Happy Thanksgiving week, Greater Victoria!

We've curated 25 local experiences for your long weekend and beyond, including the Thrifty Foods Kids Run, spooky mini golf, and a nature walk from a bear's perspective.

This week's News Bites bring some entertaining stories: a butter bandit struck Langford (yes, butter theft is apparently a thing now - Ontario had similar heists earlier this year), a remarkable Inner Harbour birth from this summer, and the Blue Jays could clinch their series tonight in New York.

Ready to explore? Here’s your week.

News Bites

💙 A Special Delivery at the Inner Harbour

Did you know that Victoria's waterfront witnessed an unforgettable moment this summer when a baby decided to make a surprise entrance? VicPD officers, St. John Ambulance volunteers, and BC paramedics quickly rallied together to safely welcome the newborn. It's a beautiful reminder that our community shows up when it matters most, and sometimes the most extraordinary moments happen in the most unexpected places. Welcome to Greater Victoria, little one!

🦇 Call Batman! Butter Bandit Strikes Langford

West Shore RCMP are searching for a suspect who swiped $300 worth of butter from a local store. This isn't an isolated incident. Butter bandits have hit Ontario cities too, stealing thousands of dollars of butter across the country. Here in Greater Victoria, local Crime Stoppers is calling it a "cholesterol crisis."

With Quebec's Great Maple Syrup Heist inspiring the TV series 'The Sticky', could "The Butter Bandits" be next? If you have information, contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Let's Go Blue Jays! Game 3 Showdown Tonight

Canada's team takes on the Yankees tonight in Game 3! The Blue Jays are chasing their first World Series since 1993. Greater Victoria Scoop is cheering for our home team, the only Canadian squad in the MLB! Win this series and the Jays could head to Seattle next, bringing MLB baseball even closer to home. Go Jays Go!
