Happy Tuesday, Greater Victoria! 🎃

Halloween is 10 days away, and this week's Scoop is overflowing with pre-Halloween magic. We've curated 27 events – including 13 spooky experiences – to help your family dive into the season.

Trick-or-treat under the sea in Sidney. Grab free candy from decorated car trunks in Colwood. Carve pumpkins (supplied free!) in Victoria. We also explored two local businesses this week: Bickford Farms' pumpkin patch and an October ice cream gem you won't want to miss.

Our News Bites bring more Halloween spirit from across the community, and yes – those Blue Jays are still giving us something to talk about!

Let's dive in!

October Featured Scoop: Cinnamon Bun at Scoop and Waffle 🍦

Who says ice cream season ends when the leaves fall?

We discovered Scoop & Waffle in downtown Sidney after a family trip to the pumpkin patch, and their Cinnamon Bun ice cream was the perfect fall treat.

The shop rotates 28 flavours, sourcing seasonal favourites from a Vancouver creamery alongside Island staples. Right now, Cinnamon Bun shares the spotlight with Dutch Apple Pie and Pumpkin—ideal for anyone chasing autumn vibes.

What really won us over? The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the space felt kid-friendly and comfy. It was the perfect way to wrap up our pumpkin patch visit.

Check it out at 2423 Beacon Ave., suite 106!

Have you picked out your pumpkin yet?

If not, we've got you covered! Last week we shared 10 pumpkin patch options across Greater Victoria - and this weekend we checked one out! Our family picked three perfect pumpkins from Bickford Farms in Central Saanich (Saanichton).

What we loved: free entry (no tickets needed), a big field for kids to roam, and plenty of photo-worthy spots. Simple, fun, and exactly what we were looking for.

Check out all 10 options in our guide and find the pumpkin patch that fits your family's vibe. Happy picking!

🎃 Why Your Neighbour's Halloween Display Keeps Getting Bigger

Warmer falls mean Canadians are decorating earlier and going all-out. Last year's mild October had nearly half of us buying decorations 2-4 weeks early, a big jump from previous years. The pandemic started the outdoor mega-display trend, and our warmer weather keeps fueling it. Those 12-foot skeletons? They're officially a Canadian tradition now.  [Full story - The Weather Network]
