This week's Greater Victoria is wonderfully eclectic: dad bands battling it out on stage, repair cafés fixing everything, and indoor soccer specifically for the 60+ crowd. There are also book sales, craft fairs, workshops, markets, and nature walks across the region.

Kids can bounce around Sidney's Easter-themed kindergym, run Esquimalt's 1K Kids Fun Run, or paint butterfly-inspired masterpieces at the Butterfly Gardens. Meanwhile, Langford just scored $85,000 to throw a month-long World Cup street party in June, and Victoria's courthouse is opening its doors for mock trials, police dog demos, and actual jail tours.

Langford Scores $85K for Month-Long World Cup Street Party

Langford just landed $85,000 in provincial funding to transform Station Avenue into a pedestrian-only World Cup festival from June 11 to July 19. In addition to big-screen game broadcasts, there will be live music, food trucks, a beer garden, and a kids' zone. Mayor Scott Goodmanson says it's a chance for the community to gather and celebrate regardless of which team they're cheering for.
