This week's Greater Victoria brings a four-day pirate festival with carnival rides, costume contests (yes, pets too), and a Little Olympics for kids ages 4-12. There are also skydivers landing on a field Sunday afternoon, a chance to become an actual citizen scientist tracking migratory birds, and a free science festival at UVic where you can launch bottle rockets and shake earthquake simulators.
Meanwhile, a psychic fair and the opening parade to a Celtic festival are happening across the region. We've also added a Mother's Day Week list of 9 events to help you plan your celebrations.
And in local news? BC just banned exotic cats, and a great white shark may or may not be visiting Vancouver Island waters again..
