This week delivers festivals in triplicate: a St. Patrick's Day Festival takes over downtown Victoria, Bikefest rolls into the Westshore, and Spark Festival lights up conversations about creativity and innovation. Whether you're chasing shamrocks, pedaling two wheels, or exploring big ideas, there's something waiting.
Beyond the festivals, community markets are returning, spring theatre is in full swing (Wizard of Oz runs this week!), and Gabby's Dollhouse LIVE brings kid-friendly magic to the stage. Plus, local news bites you'll care about: BC driver's licences go online in 2027, and the RCMP are warning about gold scams targeting seniors in Greater Victoria.
As always, our Top 3 family-friendly picks.

News Bites
💳 BC Driver's Licences Going Online (Finally!)
BC is proposing legislation to let eligible drivers renew licences, BCID cards, and BC Services Cards online starting in 2027. The change targets straightforward renewals—no name changes, address updates, or outstanding tickets allowed. Class 7 learners still need in-person retesting but can replace lost cards online. Rural residents benefit most, avoiding long drives to ICBC offices. BC joins eight other provinces already offering online renewals. No more taking half a day off work just to update an expiry date.

🚨 Watch Out: Fake Gold Scams Target BC Parking Lots
Scammers are hitting parking lots across BC with a convincing scheme. They approach people claiming urgent need—gas money, medical bills—appear distressed, then offer "real gold" as collateral for cash. Some even convince victims, especially seniors, to drive to banks for withdrawals. The gold turns out fake and scammers vanish. Police advice: don't give cash to strangers, don't accept jewelry as collateral, never get in vehicles with people you don't know, and trust your gut. If approached, report it immediately.
