News Bites
🐳When Training Day Becomes Save-a-Whale-Day
Talk about on-the-job training. Fisheries officers practicing marine mammal rescues off Nanaimo last week spotted an actual entangled humpback whale – nicknamed Astroboy – wrapped in 137 metres of poly-steel rope. They attached a satellite tag, which dragged off the gear, freeing the Hawaiian whale who vacations in B.C. waters. Pro tip: cut loops in packing materials before tossing them. Astroboy thanks you. 📺 Reagan Double Feature: Pick Your Drama
Plot twist: Last week, a Ronald Reagan quote in an Ontario TV ad led to cancelled US-Canada trade talks.
We've got TWO Reagan videos for you:
Door #1: The 1987 speech everyone's talking about (Reagan Library, April 25)
Door #2: Reagan getting a haircut in the 1949 film "It's a Great Feeling"
One involves tariffs. One involves scissors. Both are surprisingly entertaining. Your call.
